Typologies- Digital Media
I chose my object because it is something I am extremely familiar with it. Because of my familiarity with the subject I believed that I could get the most out of it emotionally because of my time spent with it. in our lives we can forget about the day to day objects and interactions. I thought that the scrubber would be a good starting point for me to make a painting that has emotional depth. |
Building Awareness/Visual Storytelling
Poster- 9''x 16'' Digital Media
The intention with my poster was to make something that questioned our relations with each other, using images from my final work. Socially and culturally I wanted to make my poster comment on the way that people use conspiracy theory to help organize the chaos of the world. I wanted to think about how confusing it must be for a person who believes in Q anon to try to process mainstream news. I chose the image form my painting because I thought the organic imagery of the painting would contrast with the digital quality of the format and the text. |
The Nob 5'x8' Oil on Canvas
My final work is a large painting of my object accompanied by two figures who are maintaining the machine. I used the floor scrubber as a starting point for thinking about labor and its role in our day to day lives. I wanted to use the paintings size to make the content of the painting unavoidable. I included some natural imagery and painted it in as naturalistic as a way as I could to provide tension between my subject and its environment. I hope that by zooming in on a specific part of my experience I can overcome the limitations of my own experience to say something relatable about the human experience as a worker.
